One event on March 4, 2020 at 3:15 pm
Come and read to Lucee!
Reading to Dog’s is designed to be a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere to encourage kids to practice their reading skills and develop their love of reading.
Lucee will be doing after school reading sessions in the library. We are scheduling 15 minute sessions where kids can sit down and read to Lucee one on one. If you are interested please contact the library for more information and to book in a time.
WHY READ TO A DOG?
– Reading to Dog’s can help kids relax while practicing their reading
– Dogs are great listeners
– They don’t laugh or judge if you make mistakes
– Kids can read at their own pace
– It can be less scary than reading in front of other kids
Reading aloud is critical when children are learning. Kids can have difficulties reading and can become self-conscious when reading in front of others. Libraries around the world have found that by sitting down and reading to a friendly dog, kids don’t worry about being judged or laughed at over mistakes.
Library staff and Lucees mum will be present at all times to help facilitate.
If you have any questions please get in touch.
