New Zealand World Kendo Team Fundraiser: 1000-cut-a-thon

New Zealand World Kendo Team Fundraiser: 1000-cut-a-thon

Canterbury and Nelson Kendo Clubs  join forces to complete 1000 booming cuts in the Kaikoura ampitheatre / Village Green in an effort to raise at least $1000 for the South Island NZ representatives.

Kendo is the Japanese martial art of sword-fighting.

The Kendo World Championships – the Olympics of the Kendo world – will be held this September in South Korea. We have four NZ Team members in the South Island, each required to pay between $6000-$7000 to attend pre-competition training in Japan and the event in Korea.

Donations can be made online at https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/help-canterburys-nz-reps-get-to-the-kendo-world or in person on the day.

Kaikoura Coast Cycle Classic

Kaikoura Coast Cycle Classic

Every cloud has a silver lining and the Kaikoura Coast Classic team composed of Mike Gane, (Rainbow Rage, Source to Sea) and Pete Halligan and Dunc MacKenzie(Forrest Graperide, Moa Hunt etc) have found the silver lining in the quake damage to the coastal highway, State Highway 1. Using S.H.1 as it has very low traffic volumes due to the re-routing of traffic after the November quakes. It’a a fantastic Highway and a spectacular ride without all that traffic. Basically there will never be a better time to use S.H.1 for this purpose!
