TAWK – Te Ahi Wairua o Kaikōura

+ Google Map
Kaikoura, New Zealand

Te Ahi Wairua kaupapa was originally driven by a common vision within its members to increase the level of cultural prosperity and social wealth within our community.
By providing a platform of Māori initiatives that deliver an array of programmes dedicated to promoting Māori achievement, success and celebrations we would enhance resilient whānau with sustainable whānau ora outcomes.

KO TE AHI WAIRUA TE INGOA
The name of the group was created after four original members discussed future purpose of their community and collaborated on key values that were at the fore front of their vision.
AROHA, WAIRUA, MANAAKITANGA, RANGATIRATANGA
Thus.. Te Ahi Wairua o Kaikōura was given as the name for our roopu with it’s kaupapa “Igniting the spirit of whānau aspirations.”
THE VISION
The vision would be that every gender and every generation would be cared for appropriately and sustained through recognition and delivery of Whānau Oranga kaupapa Māori. There would be an alignment within our community identity where connectedness is strengthened through shared priorities and responsibility and by increasing an awareness of maintaining cultural integrity through every walk of life.
THE STRENGTHS
· Māori Leadership & Governance Management
· Whānau Ora Development
· Strength in Collective Cultural Community Identity
· Physical, Social, Environmental, Economic and Spiritual Excellence
· Tamariki, Rangatahi, Pakeke ki Kaumaatua Sucession Planning & Pathways
· Kaitiakitanga – Environmental Sustainability Akomanga
· Māori Entrepreneurism & Social Enterprise Innovations
All discussed as core projects that could provide frameworks of powerful shifts to grow Māori well-being. Māori capability building and an increase in Māori contribution to wide community would unite a collective tribal identity. It was imagined to be diverse but defining, as the opportunity was endless. “Wherever there is passion there is power, purpose and poise”.
